Get Out There And Have Fun!

Hey everyone! Summer weather is officially here, and for many of us, that means packing up and heading to the cottage for some well-deserved R&R with family and friends. To help you make those memories truly unforgettable (and avoid a few common cottage country hiccups!), here are some tips from my own experiences:

Plan Ahead for Peace of Mind: Always double-check your safety gear and bring extra water containers. Mother Nature can be unpredictable, so it's best to be prepared for anything!

Bugs Be Gone! Those pesky insects are out in full force. Unless you're a fan of donating blood, remember to cover up on long walks or pack some effective, non-toxic bug repellent.

Get Out and Explore! Cottage country is buzzing with activity this time of year. Check out local happenings, farmers' markets, or simply explore a new trail. There's always something fun to do and see!

Grill Master Mode ON: Load up your cooler with all your grilling favorites! There's nothing quite like cooking over an open fire. I'm still getting so much joy out of my Pit Barrel – though my wife loves to remind me of the time my chicken on a spit ended up in a "blaze of glory" at the bottom of the barrel. It's all part of the fun, so don't sweat the small stuff!

Power Play: Ever been in the middle of a family gathering at the cottage when the power goes out? Been there, done that! If you're on a septic/water well system, a small generator can be a real lifesaver. (I eventually upgraded to a full house generator, and trust me, it's worth it!)
